Ondoma Vows to Resolve Land Issues in Arua City

Samuel Ondoma, the new Arua City Land Board Chairperson
ARUA: Samuel Ondoma, the newly appointed Chairperson of the Arua City Land Board, has pledged to tackle land-related challenges in the city.
Ondoma, appointed by Arua City Mayor Sam Wadri Nyakua and endorsed by the City Council last week, succeeds Bernard Atiku, who stepped down to pursue elective politics.
Previously a member of the City Land Board, Ondoma, a lawyer by profession, awaits approval from the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development to officially assume his role.
In an interview with journalists in his office on Monday, August 25, 2025, Ondoma expressed gratitude to the council for their trust and commitment to addressing land issues effectively.
“I’m prepared for this role, building on the solid foundation laid by Hon. Bernard Atiku. We worked well together, and I thank him for his commendable leadership,” Ondoma said.
He highlighted his expertise and passion for land matters, stating, “I have a deep interest in land issues, and I’m confident this position will not be a challenge.”
Ondoma identified delays in processing land titles as a primary issue, attributing them to the collaborative nature of the process.
“It’s not one person’s job. Surveys, area land committee meetings, and other steps are involved. It’s teamwork, and I’ll ensure all team members fulfill their roles,” he explained.
He promised to streamline the system to expedite land title issuance, emphasizing that efficient land management is critical for Arua City’s development.
“Land is the foundation of progress. Without clear land ownership, development stalls—whether for rentals, capital, or resources. We cannot afford to take this lightly, and I won’t take this role for granted,” Ondoma assured the public.
