Oasis School Crowned Champions of 2026 FEASSA Boys’ Football in Tanzania

Oasis Primary School in Arua City has been crowned champions in boys’ football at the 2026 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games held in Morogoro City, Tanzania.
The victorious team, which represented Uganda, returned home to a hero’s welcome in Arua City on Monday, where students, school officials, parents and supporters joined a procession through the Central Business District before proceeding to the school’s boarding campus in Muni.
The team finished the tournament unbeaten, competing against seven teams from across East Africa.
With six wins from six matches, 19 goals scored and only two conceded, Oasis has given Uganda a memorable regional achievement and provided a strong foundation for the next stage of its young players’ sporting journey to continental completion in South Africa next month.
John Bosco Dradebo, the administrator of Oasis School, noted that there is enormous talent in the West Nile region and called upon schools and other stakeholders to invest more in sports development.
We have talent, and we need to grow this talent. If our boys emerge the champions and they have unbeaten record, it means we have great talent here. We need to promote, and we need to invest a lot in sports so that we have very good teams here, and we also have people who move out to play,” Dradebo said.
Mawua Maz Jordan, the head coach of Oasis School, said the team displayed exceptional football skills that impressed many spectators throughout the tournament. He added that the region is a hub of great talent that needs to be identified, nurtured and supported.
“Of course, we showed people football. Everyone was very interesting. Guys were following us here and there.” Mawa cheered.
“I can assure you, in West Nile, we’re blessed. We are like Brazil here in Uganda or Africa, when it comes to talent.”
Jonathan Mungufeni, the team captain said the team is ready for the next challenge and determined to represent Uganda with confidence in South Africa.
“We are going to represent our country. We are ready and we are not fearing,”
Arua City Mayor Alionzi Lawrence Dangote welcomed the champions and congratulated the school leadership, coaches and parents for their commitment to nurturing young talent.
“Today, I was delighted to welcome the boys of Oasis Primary School to Arua City Council following their outstanding victory at the 2026 FEASSA Games in Morogoro City, Tanzania,” Mayor Dangote said.
He noted that the team had proudly returned home with gold medals after emerging champions in boys’ football.
The mayor said the achievement demonstrated the importance of identifying, supporting and providing young people with opportunities to develop their talents.
“Many dreams are realized when talent is identified, supported and given the right platform to shine,” he said.
Dangote reaffirmed Arua City Council’s commitment to promoting sports and youth development, saying young people are not only champions of today but also future leaders and ambassadors of the city.
“Investing in talent is investing in the future of our city,” he said.
The 2026 edition was the 23rd FEASSA Games, hosted in Morogoro, Tanzania that brought together thousands of participants from across the region and featured competition in Primary, Secondary and Special Needs Education categories. The 2027 edition will be hosted by Rwanda.
