ARUA: Muni University in Arua City will hold its 8th graduation ceremony on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
The event marks another milestone for the institution, which has conducted seven successful graduation ceremonies since its establishment in 2014.
Speaking during a pre-graduation press conference on Monday, November 24, 2025, the Vice Chancellor, Assoc. Prof. Simon Katrini Anguma, revealed that the university’s inaugural graduation in November 2017 featured only 77 graduands.
This year, a total of 481 students will be conferred with various academic awards, a significant increase from the first cohort. Of these, 159 (33.1%) are female and 322 (66.9%) are male.
Breaking down the figures by academic level, Prof. Anguma said 35 students will graduate with a Diploma in Educational Leadership and Management, while 129 will receive the Higher Education Access Certificate (HEAP).
“The HEAP programme is particularly important,” Prof. Anguma explained. “It provides a second chance for students who did not attain the minimum two principal passes required for direct entry into a university degree programme. Through this initiative, such students can still access higher education.”
At the bachelor’s degree level, 201 students will graduate. Additionally, 48 will be awarded postgraduate diplomas, and 68 will receive master’s degrees.

Notably, this will be the first time Muni University graduates students in several new postgraduate programmes, including: Master of Business Administration, Master of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence, Master of Science in Computer Science, Master of Science in Chemistry and Master of Science in Mathematics.
Others are Master of Science in Biodiversity Conservation, Master of Public Health, Master of Science in Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management.
The Vice Chancellor also announced that the university has developed several PhD programmes currently undergoing accreditation with the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).
“It is my sincere hope that by the next academic year, we shall launch some of these doctoral programmes,” Prof. Anguma said.
He urged members of the public, especially academics and professionals, to consider enrolling in PhD studies at Muni University when the programmes are rolled out.
The 8th graduation ceremony is expected to attract dignitaries, parents, staff, and students to the university campus in Arua City.
