Muni University Receives Shs2bn Worth of Advanced Laboratory Equipment to Boost Research and Training

ARUA CITY –  Muni University has received state-of-the-art laboratory equipment worth approximately Ugandan shillings 2 billion, donated by Seeding Labs (USA) in a major boost to the University’s research, teaching and innovation capacity.

The consignment, which includes a Flow Cytometer and a Real-Time PCR Machine, was officially received on Monday, July13, 2026 by the Acting University Secretary, Prof. Robert Kajobe, on behalf of the University.

Speaking during the handover, Prof. Kajobe said the equipment will be used exclusively for academic and research purposes within the Faculties of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Science, and Health Sciences. He noted that the donation reflects growing international confidence in Muni University’s commitment to quality teaching, research and innovation.

The Head of the Department of Animal Sciences, Dr. Robert Onzima, expressed excitement over the arrival of the equipment, describing it as the culmination of nearly a year of preparation.

“The equipment will certainly boost the research and training capacity of the faculties and the entire University,” Dr. Onzima said, adding that it will enhance practical learning and strengthen the University’s ability to undertake cutting-edge scientific research.

In a message to the University, Dr. Melissa P. Wu, Chief Executive Officer of Seeding Labs, congratulated Muni University on the successful award. She noted that the organization was particularly impressed by the quality of the application submitted by the University’s Senior Laboratory Technician, Mr. Hilary Edema, as well as the University’s demonstrated commitment to excellence.

The donation is expected to significantly enhance laboratory-based teaching and research, positioning Muni University to make greater contributions to scientific discovery, innovation and evidence-based solutions to societal challenges.
