Why Police, Locals Rounded Up 40 Suspected Criminals In Arua City
ARUA. The police on Monday, July 29, 2024, teamed up with community leaders to arrest a total of 40 suspected hardcore criminals in Arua City.
The suspects were rounded up from areas of Ekarakafe cell, Kirabu cell, Ediofe Trading Centre, Ociba coast, Osu cell, Awindiri cell and Bamboo village area, all in Arua City.
Josephine Angucia, the North Western police spokesperson confirmed the arrest and said the suspects were rounded up for various offenses.
“Police conducted an intelligence led operation together with the community leaders in which 40 notorious male suspects were arrested on Monday. Exhibits were recovered and the suspects are in custody at Arua City Central Division Police Station pending investigations,” Angucia said.
She added that: “At the end of investigations, their casefiles will be forwarded to Resident State Attorney for perusal and legal advice, and upon sanctioning, they will be arraigned before court for trials.”
According to Angucia, the purpose of conducting this intelligence led operations is to clean Arua City of notorious criminals who cause insecurity through thefts, robberies, breakings, burglaries and other offences.
She assured the public that similar operations will continue until sanity returns to the city.
