Airtel Uganda in West Nile: What You Need to Know
Airtel Uganda has established a significant presence in the West Nile region, playing a vital role in connecting communities through its telecommunications services. As one of Uganda’s leading telecom companies, Airtel has expanded its network coverage in key towns such as Arua, Koboko, Nebbi, and beyond, ensuring that both urban and rural areas have access to reliable mobile connectivity.
This improved network infrastructure allows residents to stay connected through mobile calls, internet services, and Airtel Money, facilitating communication, business transactions, and access to digital resources.
Airtel Uganda recently issued a message to extend a warm welcome to Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) in West Nile, highlighting important details regarding the company’s operational status and service delivery in the region.

In the welcome message to UETCL, Airtel Uganda shared with the West Nile community that it has been a significant contributor to this vibrant sub-region since December 27th, 2004. The following outlines where things stand in relation to Airtel Uganda’s operations in West Nile:
- 122 sites, all 4G capable;
- five sites on generators and solar, with 99.9% availability;
- seven Airtel shops; and
- 86 Airtel money branches.
According to Airtel Uganda, the stability of the electricity supply in the region will continue to power their commitment to transforming lives through:
- facilitating cross-border trade with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and South Sudan through affordable roaming and international money transfer rates,
- sustainable jobs in the distribution channels of their franchise partners and agents,
- increasing access to digital financial services such as money transfers, bill payments, health insurance savings, and extending credit,
- increasing digital inclusion by connecting schools, health facilities, NGOs, and businesses to the opportunities of the connected world.
The expansion of Airtel’s services in West Nile has had a transformative impact on the sub-region, particularly in driving economic growth, supporting local businesses, and enhancing access to essential services like education and healthcare through digital platforms.
Additionally, Airtel Uganda’s community outreach and corporate social responsibility initiatives, such as supporting education and health programs, have further solidified its role as a key player in the development of West Nile.
