Irshad Mosque, Commercial Complex Construction Works in High Gear
ARUA. The construction of the multi-million Irshad Mosque and commercial complex in Arua city is taking shape, officials have confirmed.
Speaking to journalists at the construction site on Friday, September 20, 2024, Halima Brahan, the chairperson of the construction committee, said the works on the commercial complex have reached the stage of casting the ground floor slab while the works on the mosque have reached the plinth wall level.
The construction of the modern mosque is estimated to cost shs700m and shs1.8bn for the commercial complex.
But Halima said the construction of the commercial complex was leased out to people who will intern use the facility for 15 years before reverting it fully to the management of the mosque.
She, however, noted that they don’t have a specific funder for the mosque project apart from relying on the funds raised by well-wishers from all the denominations.
“Some people have been speculating outside there that this mosque project has been taken over by a donor but I want to clear the air that there is no one who has come up standing as a donor to take up the mosque construction. The mosque construction is entirely on the Muslims and believers from the other denominations within and outside Arua,” Halima clarified.
Halima instead, used the opportunity to call upon all well-wishers to come and support them in constructing the mosque so that the project can meet its completion schedule of May next year.
Brahan Twalib, the Arua Muslim District Public Relations Officer, commended everybody who extended support towards the construction of the mosque, saying without them, the project wouldn’t have reached where it is now.
Sheik Abdulaziz Qaasim Alkury, the Arua Muslim District Deputy Khadi, appealed to the public to join hands in supporting the project.
“It is not necessary that you have to construct the whole mosque but that one brick you are bringing, qualifies you to be among those who constructed the mosque. So, let us all come together to see that this project succeeds. Whatever kind of support you can give, give it with clear intention and the Almighty will pay you back,” Alkury said.
Abdul Twaha, the Arua Muslim District Secretary for Education, urged the public to continue supporting the project both financially and materially.
He said in the case of financial support, all Imams have been issued with receipt books to acknowledge payments made by the members of the public.
Twaha said for those who would wish to send their money digitally, they can deposit through Diamond Trust Bank on Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Arua Muslim District project account number 0284705001 or on mobile money numbers; 0782483393/0752013284 in the names of Halima Brahan.
He assured the public that the project construction team is ready and much willing to account for any contribution made towards the construction of the mosque and the commercial complex.
May Allah SWT see this project through.. Ameen
Good work UMSC Arua Muslim District.
