Two Suspected Criminals Netted in Arua City
ARUA. At least two suspected criminals have been arrested in a joint security operation in Arua City.
The operation conducted on the evening of Thursday, 31st October 2024 led to the arrest of Jema Ismail, 54, and Dramani Brian Abele, 42.
Maj. Peter Mugisa, the 4th Division UPDF Public Relations Officer, said the intelligence joint security cordon and search operation was conducted in Oli- D Cell, Tanganyika Ward, Central Division in Arua city.
He noted that the operation further led to the recovery of a pair of Congo (FARDC) uniform, 03 pairs of old UPDF uniform, 01 pouch with 02 magazines and 01 bullet, 01 UPDF T-Shirt with blood stains, ten (10) million shillings, 01 new motorcycle numberless, 01 mistine and a pair of military shoes among others.
According to the 409 Brigade Commander, Lt Col. Nathan Bainomugisha, they have seriously intensified search for hardcore criminals targeting Arua city and the borderline with DRC.
“Our intelligence led operations to neutralize criminality in the city and borderline areas will remain in force throughout the festive season. This is intended to allow people and businessmen enjoy Christmas and the New Year peacefully,” Col Bainomugisha promised.
The UPDF officials said it is suspected that the two arrested criminals participated in killing of a gold dealer in Congo two weeks ago near Odramachaku along the borderline.
The suspects are now at Arua CPS with their exhibits for more investigations.
