The Third International West Nile Diaspora Convention (WNDC) 2026 has received a major diplomatic boost following the confirmation that Uganda’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom will personally attend the highly anticipated convention scheduled for 16–19 July 2026 at the Leonardo Hotel in Milton Keynes.
The High Commissioner’s participation underscores the Government of Uganda’s growing recognition of the important role the diaspora plays in promoting investment, trade, tourism, and national development. Her attendance is expected to strengthen discussions on building stronger partnerships between Ugandans living abroad, government institutions, development partners, and private investors.
Held under the theme “Unlocking Investment Opportunities in West Nile,” the convention brings together diaspora professionals, entrepreneurs, policymakers, investors, financial institutions, development agencies, cultural leaders, and community organizations from across the globe to explore practical opportunities for accelerating the socio-economic transformation of the West Nile region.
The presence of Uganda’s top diplomat in the United Kingdom is expected to add significant weight to the convention, providing delegates with an opportunity to engage directly on issues of investment promotion, diaspora engagement, bilateral cooperation, and sustainable development.
Among the key highlights of this year’s convention will be the promotion of the proposed West Nile Museum, Information and Cultural Centre in Arua Citya strategic legacy project aimed at preserving the region’s rich cultural heritage while stimulating tourism, education, research, and economic growth.
Organizers have welcomed the confirmation, describing it as a strong vote of confidence in the convention and its vision of positioning West Nile as one of Uganda’s emerging investment destinations.
With high-level government representation continuing to grow, expectations are rising that the 2026 West Nile Diaspora Convention will attract stronger partnerships, greater investor confidence, and new opportunities that will contribute to the long-term development of the region.
