West Nile’s Mungu Feni Scores Double Victory, Shines at Ghana Merit Awards as Entrepreneurial and Philanthropic Influence Grows
The certificate and the accolade
Ugandan entrepreneur and philanthropist Benard Feni, popularly known as Mungu Feni, has added another major accolade to his growing list of recognitions after winning the CEO/Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Ghana Merit Awards 2026 in Accra, Ghana.
His philanthropic organisation, the Mungu Feni Foundation, also emerged Best NGO/Foundation of the Year, giving Feni a double victory at the prestigious awards ceremony.
The recognition comes only weeks after Feni was named Best Entrepreneur of the Year 2026 at Uganda’s Business Excellence Awards held at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel on August 14.
At the same ceremony, his company, Euro Gold Refinery Ltd, received the Platinum Award for Best Natural Resources and Extractives Company in Uganda. The awards were organised by Consumer Publications Uganda and recognised businesses and individuals for excellence in areas including quality, service, integrity and innovation.
The latest recognition from Ghana further cements Feni’s growing profile as an entrepreneur whose work combines business, innovation and community development.
From entrepreneurship to social impact
For Feni, the double recognition in Ghana represents more than personal achievement. It highlights a journey built around entrepreneurship, leadership, innovation and a commitment to using business and philanthropy to create opportunities for others.
As the founder and chief executive of Euro Gold Refinery, Feni has positioned himself in Uganda’s mineral value-addition sector. At the same time, his Mungu Feni Foundation focuses on supporting vulnerable and less privileged communities.
The foundation has also expanded its community partnerships. In June, it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Madi and West Nile Diocese to support vulnerable communities in the region.
The foundation has previously received several recognitions, including the Best Community Transformation Organisation in East Africa at the East Africa Brand Quality Awards and multiple honours at the West Nile Quality Brand Awards.
Growing list of accolades
The Ghana Merit Awards victory is the latest in a series of recognitions Feni has received in 2026.
In April, he was named Best Innovative and Extraordinary Entrepreneur 2026 by the Uganda National Innovative Graduates Wealth Creation Association (UNIGWA), with the organisation citing his contribution to innovation, job creation and community empowerment.
In August, he was again recognised at the Business Excellence Awards as Best Entrepreneur of the Year, an honour he dedicated to young Ugandans who believe in themselves and are working to create employment and contribute to the economy.
“This award is not to me as the CEO of Euro Gold Refinery as the Best Entrepreneur, but this award is to all the youth of Uganda that believe in themselves,” Feni said after the Business Excellence Awards.
He also emphasised the values he believes have contributed to his success.
“We believe in validation, we believe in job creation, and we believe in transparency, and it is because of this that we can receive this award,” he said.
Beyond Business
Feni’s influence has also extended into the creative industry.
In June, he was named Artist of the Year at the Prestigious Personalities Awards 2026 in Accra, Ghana.
In July, he won Best Gospel Artist Content Creator of the Year at the 2026 Africa Content Creators Awards in Kigali, Rwanda, defeating nominees from Nigeria, Kenya and Rwanda.
These recognitions have given Feni a rare profile spanning entrepreneurship, philanthropy and gospel music.
The Ghana Merit Awards double therefore comes at a significant point in his career. While the CEO/Entrepreneur of the Year award celebrates the businesses and opportunities he has helped build, the foundation award recognises the social impact accompanying that entrepreneurial journey.
Together, the two honours present a picture of a Ugandan entrepreneur whose ambitions increasingly extend beyond commercial success to community transformation.
For Feni, the growing list of awards may be less about personal recognition and more about what can be achieved when entrepreneurship is combined with purpose, resilience and service.
His journey continues to demonstrate that leadership is not measured only by what one builds, but also by the opportunities created and the lives touched along the way.
