After Eid Fight Looms As Sheikh Drigo Dumps Kibuli Faction For UMSC

Sheikh Drigo (L) joins UMSC members during prayers on Eid, the day he crossed over to UMSC
ARUA. The Kibuli affiliated Supreme Administration of Arua has bitterly reacted to the decision taken by one of their own to cross back to the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), a renowned Old Kampala Muslim faction.
The Kibuli leaders in Arua said Sheikh Adam Muhammad Drigo’s decision to crossover to UMSC during Eid-Al-Fitr celebration wasn’t a surprise to them because they had tolerated him for long.
Much as Miria Ahumed Miria, the Supreme Administration Secretary of Arua Muslim district, acknowledged that Sheik Drigo has been one of their historical members, he quickly added that Drigo was a serious trouble causer in their system.
“We initiated the move of wanting to change our affiliation to Kibuli together with him and we all had struggles. There were a lot of wars and so forth, we all stood together but when we settled down, allocating resources and allocating responsibilities; we appointed Muhamad Drigo as our Secretary for Islamic Affairs but he could not manage,” Miria said.
Miria added that: “Drigo could not tolerate the people he was working with, every time he had problems with all the people in this community. So, we sat down again and reallocated him to a lighter managerial secretary that is the Secretary for Halal (Slaughter) but he totally also failed there and we felt we could not now continue stomaching him.”
Miria said as an institution, they tried their level best to accommodate Drigo but time reached when they couldn’t tolerate him anymore.
“So, I want to be on record that on April 14, 2024, I convened a top executive meeting and the meeting totally resolved to indefinitely suspend Sheik Muhammad Drigo from Arua Muslim District Supreme Administration.
I therefore, want to categorically state that from April 14, 2024, Drigo has not been our member and he has not been authorized to act or talk on our behalf. So, we are distancing ourselves from whatever he said at Arua Primary School during the Eid day celebrations,” Miria said.

He assured the public that they are calm, united as ever and that they know where they are coming from and where they want to go and who they are with.
But when contacted on phone, Drigo said he has been in the Kibuli Muslim faction for seven years, stressing that one of the reasons which forced him to join the Kibuli faction was corruption.
“But when I reached there, corruption was again the order of the day. And when you try to talk about it, you become an enemy and secondly, when you relate with our brothers and sisters in UMSC or when you go for their funerals and other functions, they start to hate you. They say now you have changed to another fraternity. So, these things made me annoyed because it is not fair for a fellow Muslim to hate his brother,” Drigo explained.
He equally noted that it is not fair for a Muslim leader to misuse Muslim funds without their authority.

“So, all those things forced me to come back to UMSC because I have seen a lot of changes in the leadership of Sheik Shaban Abu Jafar in terms of development, uniting people, and how they are doing their things. So, I felt I should be part of them and we move together,” Drigo remarked.
