ARUA CITY – The Bishop of Madi and West Nile Diocese, Rt. Rev. Charles Collins Andaku, has dedicated funds to be raised during his ninth anniversary celebrations towards the completion of the ground floor of the Diocesan Golden Jubilee Office Block.

Bishop Andaku made the announcement while addressing journalists at the Diocesan Headquarters on Friday, May 29, 2026.

The Bishop’s 9th Anniversary and Fundraising Drive 2026 will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Emmanuel Cathedral Mvara. Benard Mungufeni, the Chief Executive Officer of Mungufeni Foundation, is expected to be the Guest of Honour at the event, which is anticipated to attract thousands of Christians and dignitaries.

In his maiden address to the media, Bishop Andaku thanked God for the victories and sustenance during his nine years of service to the Christians of Madi and West Nile Diocese.

“It is amazing to see how time flies. It is now nine and a quarter years since I was consecrated and enthroned as the seventh Bishop of this vast diocese,” he said.

“The whole story started as a dream revealed to a few people about the choice of the seventh Bishop, but the majority had mixed feelings because I was picked from nowhere — a nobody, from the grass. But God’s faithfulness, His protection, and His promise to be with us to the end of the age have brought us this far. We can only say, ‘Ebenezer!” Andaku stated.

The Bishop gave a comprehensive report of the achievements registered and the challenges his administration faced during the nine years. He revealed that a full account of his stewardship has been compiled into a magazine that will be available to the public for purchase starting Sunday.

Bishop Andaku, who was enthroned on February 26, 2017, noted that the ninth anniversary would have been celebrated in February this year but was postponed due to the Lenten season.

“Now we want to say thank you to God for these nine years. This thanksgiving is designed not only to express gratitude to God but also to raise funds for the completion of the Golden Jubilee Office Block — that is why we are here,” he said.

Richard Anguyo, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, said the event aims to raise Shs600 million, as per the engineer’s estimates, to complete the ground floor of the office block, which is scheduled for commissioning in October this year.

“The target has been broken down among various stakeholders. We expect each church in the diocese to contribute at least Shs200,000, single-parish churches a minimum of Shs1 million, all active clergy at least Shs100,000 each, Lay Leaders at least Shs20,000 each, while all Church-founded institutions are expected to raise a combined total of at least Shs90 million,” Anguyo explained.

On behalf of the project committee, Anguyo appealed to the faithful to support the Bishop in realizing this dream.

Godfrey Nasser, the Diocesan Secretary, thanked God for His protection and for the achievements recorded in the past nine years.

“I know the past six bishops all had their own achievements and they played their part. What has come during our time is what we also want to testify about. We bless the name of the Lord for how far He has brought us,” Nasser remarked.
