West Nile-based gospel artist and businessman Mungu Feni has been named Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2026 Business Excellence Awards, while his company, Euro Gold Refinery Ltd, was declared the 2026 Platinum Winner for Best Natural Resources and Extractives in Uganda.

The awards, organised by Consumer Publications Uganda Ltd, were presented during a ceremony held at Serena Hotel in Kampala, recognising Feni’s growing influence in Uganda’s business sector through his gold refining and natural resources enterprise.

The double recognition marks another major milestone for the West Nile-born gospel artist, who has increasingly combined his music career with entrepreneurship.

Feni, whose real name is Benard Feni, has built a growing reputation in the gospel music industry while simultaneously establishing himself as an entrepreneur in Uganda’s mineral sector through Euro Gold Refinery.

The latest recognition places particular focus on his business journey, which has seen him venture into gold refining and mineral value addition.

Euro Gold Refinery has positioned itself as a Ugandan-owned company involved in gold refining, with Feni previously highlighting the company’s efforts to promote local participation in Uganda’s mineral industry.

Speaking about the company’s expansion, Feni said its impact was not limited to Kampala.

“The refinery’s impact extends beyond Kampala. We have secured a 79.8 sq km mining concession in Yumbe District, with plans to expand operations to Abim district.”

The company’s recognition as the country’s Best Natural Resources and Extractives enterprise at Platinum level adds to Feni’s growing list of accolades.

The entrepreneur has also previously been recognised for his contribution to Uganda’s mining industry and efforts to promote local ownership and value addition in the sector.

For Feni, the achievement comes at a time when his profile is rising both in business and gospel music.

The Arua-born artist has in recent months received recognition beyond Uganda for his music, including awards in Rwanda and Ghana, further raising the profile of West Nile’s creative talent on the regional stage.

However, the Entrepreneur of the Year award highlights a different dimension of his career and his transition from being known primarily as a gospel musician to becoming a businessman with interests in Uganda’s natural resources sector.

Feni has previously described such recognition as an encouragement to young Ugandans to pursue their ideas and believe in their potential.

“We are truly grateful for this recognition,” he said after receiving an earlier entrepreneurship award, describing the achievement as a message to young Ugandans that “it is possible to achieve extraordinary things.”

The latest awards are therefore not only a personal milestone for Mungu Feni but also another moment of recognition for talent and enterprise emerging from West Nile.

From gospel music to gold refining, the artist-turned-entrepreneur is increasingly building a profile that extends beyond entertainment, positioning him among West Nile personalities making an impact in Uganda’s creative and business sectors.
